The MSc course in Transport is an intercollegiate course offered jointly with University College London (UCL). The course provides a thorough understanding of the movement of people and goods, and of techniques for analysing transport problems and evaluating measures for resolving them. It prepares students for work in the fields of planning, engineering, operations, policy and research. The course is interdisciplinary and is taught primarily in the context of current British conditions and practice, complemented by relevant aspects of practice elsewhere.

All our MSc courses are career-oriented and cover both theoretical background and practical design considerations. Lectures are given mainly by full-time staff but important contributions are made by visiting professors and guest lecturers who are eminent industrialists. Many of our students continue their studies to undertake research towards a PhD. All MSc courses are of one calendar year´s duration, comprising two terms of taught examinable material followed by a research dissertation.

All of our MSc courses are also offered on a part-time basis. Methods of study may include:

* One day per week over three years
* One and a half days per week over two years
* Term release

The term release option normally involves attendance in the autumn term of one year and the spring term of a second year, but this may vary from one course to another, depending on your personal circumstances. The dissertation is undertaken with regular guidance from a College supervisor, by private study or by arrangement at your place of employment.

This module provides you with the skills to incorporate the concepts of sustainable development into all the stages of an engineering project’s development. It is suitable for those who wish to direct their career towards issues of development and redevelopment, especially in the provision of infrastructure, and its renovation and renewal. You will gain the practical tools necessary to apply the principles of engineering for sustainable development in real world contexts. The course comprises three units.
