MA Animation at UCA Farnham has strong interdisciplinary approach to the animated form in traditional 2D and 3D stop motion animation. The master in animation encourages the use of digital and new media practices including CGI, flash, visual FX (after-effects) and experimental approaches to moving image. You develop your master in animation project using narrative/non-narrative practices and/or animated documentaries grounded in visual and animation theory.

* Exposition of central ideas and concepts developed throughout the course
* Resolve project as practice-based work or produce a dissertation or a combination of both
Syllabus (10/11*)
You have the opportunity to further develop your practical skills and knowledge at an advanced level. You are encouraged to experiment and engage with animation production, model, computer and 2D techniques.
Stage 1
* Contextual perspectives 1 - development of the foundations for successful creative arts practice.
* Exploratory project - development of a critical and methodological framework for your final project.
Stage 2
* Contextual perspectives 2 - understanding a range of contextual and theoretical discourses key to the creative arts.
* Reflective project - undertaking professional practice, which could include working to a 'live' brief; applying for a residency or funding; or an exhibition proposal.
Stage 3
* Final project - undertaking a major piece of research on a topic which shows an advanced knowledge of subject discipline.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

* A good Honours degree (normally 2:1 or above) or equivalent qualification in your chosen subject or a related discipline, and/or;
* Relevant work experience, demonstrating your ability to study at postgraduate level.
English language requirements
If your first language is not English a certificate is required as evidence that you have an average IELTS score of 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each individual component) or equivalent.
You may be offered a place on a course on the condition that you improve your English language and study skills. We offer two pre-sessional English language courses which can improve your IELTS score by a maximum of 1.0 and 0.5, or equivalent.
Portfolio
Your portfolio should include animation or moving image work, drawing and sketchbooks digitised and supplied on DVD for viewing. You should also enclose script ideas or production proposals and evidence of critical or theoretical written work.
