During the course you have the opportunity to develop your practical and theoretical understanding of fashion and lifestyle journalism in the UK. You develop your awareness of changing trends in contemporary lifestyle media and the commercial marketplace, as well as the rigour of practical journalism.

Stage 1

* Research Methods - designed to support and advance the project work produced during the rest of your MA study through a developed investigation of research methods. You will define, articulate and critically reflect upon the research concerns of your own practice during this unit, thereby underpinning and enhancing your knowledge and understanding of the chosen field of study, as well as developing your ability to communicate this in a variety of ways.
* Exploring Fashion & Lifestyle Journalism - introduction to the practical requirements and key principles of journalism including: researching stories, developing ideas and writing in a range of styles and formats suitable to target publications, right through to pitching and selling feature ideas.

Stage 2

* Journalistic Development -you negotiate a number of writing projects that will lead you towards determining an area of interest for your final project and planning their studies for the remainder of the course. This unit also introduces industry professionals, who workshop pieces with you, helping to improve your writing ability and understanding of the contemporary fashion and lifestyle marketplace.

Stage 3

* Final Project (Journalism) - the culmination of your studies and will form a presentation of ideas and concepts developed throughout the course. You should achieve a resolution to previous project units and demonstrate evidence of advanced conceptual, theoretical and technical capability over an extended period of self-directed study. During the unit you are expected to continue to pursue external research consultation with external agencies related to their individual study.
