The MSc in Finance in Trinity College Dublin is designed to provide you with the analytical and practical skills demanded in a career in modern financial services. Although there is no generally agreed professional qualification in Finance, increasingly it is agreed that possession of a specialist Masters in Finance is the key distinguishing feature of finance professionals.
The course is also designed to assist you in complementary study, particularly relevant for those that are considering taking Chartered Financial Analyst examinations. While this course does not exempt you from the professional requirement of the CFA examinations, we are confident that a graduate will be exceptionally well prepared to undertake them. We also believe that graduates of the course will be well prepared to undertake further study towards research degrees.
This course has a number of features that we are sure will make it your first choice in taking your career to another level.
Finance is now a major element of the Irish economy. Dublin is one of the worlds leading centers for asset management with over EUR600 billion under management. The availability of highly skilled workers who are financially and quantitatively literate is a key driver of this sector.
The Msc in Finance works on a fulltime or part time basis over one or two years, with classes running from September to May and a project taking place over the
summer period. All courses are designed to challenge and stretch your academic skills, and to prepare you for undertaking a demanding career in the financial services
industry. In addition, students will be well prepared to consider further research in finance and related areas.
The programme is assessed based on a combination of assigned coursework, written examination, a group project and a capstone assignment. The course will be composed of a set of 12 taught modules and a project. Students select whether to undertake a project which involves analysis and evaluation of companies or a dissertation.
Students will choose modules from a list. Some modules will be compulsory. An indicative list of modules includes:
