We won't just quench your thirst for knowledge; we'll inspire and nurture the stamina you'll need to reach your potential. We'll sharpen your critical thinking, problem solving skills, and people management capabilities. Learn to think, and demonstrate your thinking, strategically - learn to be a leader.
We have an unrivalled pedigree. Recognised globally, the Warwick MBA is repeatedly top rated in accreditation schemes and impartial reports.You determine where you want the Warwick MBA to take you and we'll support you all the way.One of our main objectives is to prepare you for an international career. Take the opportunity to broaden your experience and spend some time overseas.
You might choose to study elective modules at a partner business school of equal standing to WBS. Usually these are available on a five-day modular basis. If you have a particular interest in an organisation, country, or culture, you might also choose to undertake your management consultancy project in an organisation based overseas.
Very few schools can match the flexibility of our programme. Choose a mode for your seven core modules, mix and match for your six electives, and complete a management consultancy project. However hard it gets, and it will, we will be there to support you every step of the way. Study with us, and we know you can achieve great things.
FULL-TIME MBA:
Our full-time study mode is an intensive 12-month route to the Warwick MBA. Because it's short, you're able to progress more quickly in your career.
We recognise the need for you to get back to work quickly after a year out. Our careers team will work with you throughout the year to achieve this. A double module, The Practice of Management, will boost your practical capabilities. You will also learn a foreign language during the programme.
Your time will be divided between studying at WBS, gaining market experience during your project, and on optional overseas exchanges. You might choose to take part in an exchange programme with other world class business schools. You can do this within the 12-month programme or by extending your study period to 15-months. You can also choose to extend your studies by taking on an internship during the summer months and completing your consultancy project afterwards.
The full-time study mode starts at the end of September each year. You can apply to us at any time, but your application should arrive by the end of July in the year you want to start your studies.
The Practice of Management
The labour market is increasingly competitive as more and more people enter it with similar skills and qualifications. The differentiating factor is not just your acquisition of the skills, but the way in which you deploy them. The ability to apply knowledge in practice may previously have been assumed, now it must be demonstrable.
The Practice of Management was developed as a direct response to the needs of organisations recruiting MBA graduates. They have played a key role in creating the programme. This new approach will give you the skills and capabilities to enable you to work more effectively and productively with colleagues. It will challenge the general observation regularly being made in the media that MBA participants are taught a traditional business curriculum, but lack important practical capabilities.
Within The Practice of Management, you will develop your personal capabilities in four broad areas:
* Self-understanding and self-management
* Interpersonal communication
* Team and project management skills
* Leading and managing others.
Each of these areas will be embedded within the existing academic curriculum, linked with, and informed by, the relevant modules. Much of the delivery will be by industry professionals who are highly regarded in their field. The Practice of Management will be assessed, with a pass required in order to obtain The Warwick MBA.
The interplay of research and scholarly principles in conjunction with actual experience is a powerful combination for the development of your learning. A key feature of The Practice of Management will therefore be the Development Project, which will give you the opportunity to enhance your personal capabilities in a meaningful way, through experience, practice, feedback and reflection. It will provide a means for you to achieve greater self-awareness and self-confidence as well as to integrate knowledge, concepts, and skills from other parts of the study programme.
EXECUTIVE MBA:
The Warwick Executive MBA study programme is delivered in week-long modules. This route gives you the flexibility of part-time study with the benefits of interactive learning. You can be part of a highly experienced peer group whilst retaining your contact with the workplace.
The modular structure allows you plan for attendance well ahead and makes it particularly suitable if your work involves a considerable amount of travelling or you are based overseas. Most participants complete their studies in three years. However, if you have a high level of company support, you might complete it in less.
Many participants on this mode are sponsored by their organisation. Both parties benefit from you having direct access to a business environment in which you can test and apply your new thinking and knowledge.
Each module is self-contained and assessment is a combination of syndicate group work, assignments, and a small number of examinations.
There are two annual intakes for this mode of study: March and October. You can apply to us at any time, but your application should arrive by 20 January for the Marchintake and 19 August for the October intake.
DISTANCE LEARNING MBA:
With over 20 years of experience to draw upon, our distance learning study mode gives you maximum flexibility and portability to achieve the Warwick MBA in anything between three to eight years. Our distance learning study mode is ideal if you need to adapt around work, family, or other commitments. Your final qualification will simply state that you have achieved the Warwick MBA; we don't specify the study mode you chose.
Although the programme, including your examinations, can be undertaken from anywhere in the world, it is compulsory for you to attend the annual eight-day September Seminar at WBS each year. We offer a variety of delivery methods and additional features to ensure that distance learning is still collaborative, interactive and interesting.
The distance learning study mode has two intakes: one in January and one in July. If you join in July, you have almost 18 months to complete your first part of the programme, rather than the 12 months you will have if you join in January. This is ideal if you haven't been involved in academic study for some time or if your other commitments take up a significant amount of your time.
You can apply to us at any time but by the end of October for the January intake, and the end of April for the July intake.
The Warwick MBA study programme has seven compulsory core modules which cover the disciplines of management and key business processes. This foundation gives you the essential building blocks to go on to explore more and varied management issues later in the programme. DISSERTATION:
Your management consultancy project is a vital part of the study programme. Academically, it tests your ability to apply your learning to real management issues. Professionally, it may well open the door to your next career move.
For some participants, the project is the incentive they can use to encourage their employer to sponsor them. The promise of the quality of focus and expertise which will be brought to the endeavour can be a powerful motivator.
We facilitate a number of projects for our full-time participants, and hold regular events for companies to come and talk about their project opportunities. However, most participants find it more satisfying to generate their own project to meet their personal needs and aspirations.
We run a project & dissertation workshop before you start, to help you along your way. You will also be be supervised by an academic member of the faculty who will help you focus on the relevant issues. Our Project Team will support you with the administrative side of writing and submitting your dissertation.
There are normally two outputs to your work:
* A management report for the organisation
* An academic dissertation of between 15-20,000 words, demonstrating your understanding and logical application of relevant concepts.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

If you have left education within the last five years, you should give one academic and one employment-related reference; otherwise, give two employment-related references.
You should approach employment referees who will be able to give a broad overview of your managerial skills and experience to date. They should also be able to assess your potential for learning and applying new management skills.
You should approach an academic referee who can comment on your academic and intellectual ability. They should be able to assess your ability to analyse and apply theoretical frameworks to practical situations, and to present a cogent and coherent argument.
INTERVIEW:
You may be invited to attend a selection interview. These are usually held at WBS, though we also offer overseas interviews, sometimes conducted by telephone.
The interview itself is relatively informal and seeks to evaluate your suitability for the Warwick MBA programme. As well as discussing your application, the interviewer may wish to find out more about your personal qualities, motivations and aspirations.
