The School of Pharmacy is the longest established centre for pharmaceutical education in Ireland with postgraduate degrees by research having been offered by the School at Trinity College Dublin since 1977.
Academic staff have active research projects at M.Sc. and Ph.D. level in the traditional pharmacy disciplines: Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy and Practice of Pharmacy.
This full-time course is aimed primarily at graduates intending to work or currently working in the formulation and drug delivery system design sectors of the human and veterinary pharmaceutical industries.
The main aim of the course is to give students currently working or intending to work in the human and veterinary pharmaceutical industries an understanding of the fundamentals of pharmaceutical technology relevant to product formulation, development and production.
In addition to theoretical knowledge, graduates are equipped with practical experience and research methodology that enables them to become involved in research and development in these areas.
Syllabus
The course will be run over one academic year, on a modular basis with, each module being accompanied by a detailed workbook.
The following modules will be offered:
* Pharmaceutical Processing;
* Unit Processes;
* Formulation of Sterile Products;
* Principles of Formulation;
* Biopharmaceutics;
* Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics;
* Formulation of Biotechnology Products;
* Regulatory Affairs and Manufacturing Specifications.
Site visits to pharmaceutical companies will be organised where appropriate to accompany the coursework.
AssessmentAssessment will take the form of written assignments to be completed in parallel with the modules under study, an annual written examination, and continuous practical assessment of the course, i.e. plant tours, practicals and tutorial marked assignments.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

* Hold a good honours degree in a relevant science discipline
* Hold an equivalent qualification with relevant professional experience
* Otherwise satisfy the course admission committee that they have the ability to succeed and benefit from the course.
