This is the UK's first MA in Literature and Medicine, which aims to consider all aspects of the relationship between these two disciplines. The course is a taught Masters programme but it is one which places strong emphasis on individual initiative and independent research. Designed to appeal to humanities graduates and healthcare professionals alike, it can be taken full time over a single academic year or part time over two years.
In your core modules you will explore what kind of ground the two disciplines might share and how they might enrich one another. You will study and debate the methodological preconditions of what constitutes genuine interdisciplinarity. You will also take part in a weekly seminar in which a practitioner in the field describes the approach(es) they have developed to bring the two disciplines into dialogue with one another.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testMinimum 2:1 degree in a humanities discipline with a literary component (eg English; modern languages; biblical studies); or a medical degree; or a nursing or a social work qualification; or a relevant equivalent qualification. There is a qualifying exam for those without minimum qualifications.
