We offer a 12-month full-time MSc in Environmental Technology course, leading to the MSc of Imperial College London and to the Diploma of the Imperial College (DIC).
Our MSc is the route to a successful career in environment and sustainability, as demonstrated by the achievements of around 2,500 alumni who have graduated since 1978. Many of these are internationally recognised leaders in their field, reflecting their training on a world-renowned course.
We welcome applications from candidates with first degrees not only in science and engineering but also in the social sciences and, indeed, any academic subject in which there is a link to the way that we understand, value or manage an aspect of our diverse environment. Over half the students have work experience since their first degree.
Our course combines the natural and social sciences in a truly interdisciplinary manner, providing the foundation for graduates' demonstrated ability to identify and resolve environmental and sustainability issues in a holistic manner.
The first term core course comprises modules in:
* Ecology
* Environmental pollution and control
* Environmental policy and management
* Environmental law
* Environmental economics
* Research methods
* Risk assessment
This broad training is followed by an in-depth education in many specialised areas, maintaining the course's interdisciplinary nature. The specialist options in the second term are designed to cater for a variety of individual interests and career requirements. A strong case-study approach is employed with emphasis on working in teams, decision-making, analytical skills and report preparation. The eight specialist options currently offered on the course include:
* Business and environment
* Ecological management
* Energy policy
* Environmental analysis and assessment
* Environmental economics and policy
* Global environmental change and policy
* Pollution management
* Water management
Specialisms are further developed in the final five months of the course, during which an in-depth individual research project is conducted. Projects vary widely in their nature, including desk, field and laboratory.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
