  • Studying abroad is optional.

This programme has a workload of 60 ECTS.

Specialities:

Information Management:

The specialization Information Management focuses on (networks of) organizations that increase their value with Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Information and knowledge are the most important production factors in the current era. ICT is an essential enabler of high quality and efficient information management and helps to redesign administrative and intellectual tasks by improving the processing and dissemination of information. Knowledge is the enabler of innovation in organizations. The information management specialization illuminates the organizational requirements that make IT applications a managerial success: both in the internal and external contexts of organizations. In cases, both from research and practice, our international capacity group Information Systems

Innovation and Entrepreneurship:

Innovation management focuses on the management of innovation, primarily on the organizational level, but it also addresses the micro level (i.e. individual employees) and macro-level (i.e. social / societal environment) issues to provide a well-balanced view. The relation between operational and strategic innovation processes and the role of innovation in achieving short- and long-term effectiveness is specifically addressed. Entrepreneurship highlights the basic process of recognizing and assessing opportunities and developing and implementing business concepts. Aspects such as market orientation, knowledge management resulting in new business development, understanding market and societal developments and the influence of regulation.

International Management:

International Management (INT) is a Master programme preparing students with a Bachelor degree for a professional position in the field of International Management. Through a programme of coherent courses and practical assignments the relevant theory is presented and applied in practice. It enables you to complement your Bachelor diploma with the necessary scientific and international capabilities that you will need for a successful career in the dynamic international setting. The program is organised by the International Management section of the Technology and Development Group of the University of Twente. The track focuses on Dutch and foreign students with a Bachelor degree wanting to acquire additional skills for operating in the international context and who are looking for international practical experiences. Since the program focus is on the relationship between industrialized and industrializing economies, it offers students, with or without international experiences, the international specialisation they seek.

Service Management:

The number and variety of service organisations has risen dramatically in the past decades. However, most of our management knowledge is still based on industrial settings. Therefore, it is of paramount importance to study the behaviours within service settings as well as the way they typically operate in their nvironments. Service delivery involves intangible experiences of customers, partners or citizens, incl. various forms of contact between service providers and receivers. As a consequence, managing behaviours of employees in a service-type setting differs from managing in an industrial setting. The mastertrack Service Management will focus equally on both the internal and external sides of service-type settings, especially in the private sector. It involves the offering of deep knowledge and insights from the managerial sub disciplines Marketing, Strategy, HRM, and Organisational-Psychology and Organisational-Sociology.

Human Resource Management:

A well-known statement is that management means getting things done by other people. This means that in practice, management is mainly the management of personnel. Almost all decisions taken in companies and other organizations have important implications for the employees. Examples of these are: the introduction of new products or services that requires new activities and tasks and, in line with that, possibly also the recruitment and contracting of new specialists. It is a big challenge for every organization and for each manager to keep their employees motivated and productive in a healthy way during all these changes. It is the role of internal and external HRM specialists in particular to support line management with their specific knowledge and experience in the effective implementation of these changes.

Financial Management:

The specialization Financial Management pays attention to starting, small and medium enterprises as well as larger companies and multinationals. Obviously, financial instruments used in managing such different organizations will vary widely. The track will address this variety, by studying cases from organizations of all kinds and sizes. Additionally, some attention will be given to non profit organizations. Generally these organizations will depend for the continuity of activities upon their financial performance as well. However, the absence of the profit objective may induce specific characteristics of performance measurement and results control. Often similar characteristics may be detected in decentralized units of for-profit organizations too. Such units may be framed as cost centers funded by budgets rather than direct revenues from sales on the organization's markets.
