You will learn from experienced investigative journalists and other specialists in their fields to develop practical skills and produce innovative work and research. There will be close examination of actual pieces of work to discover the techniques, tricks and pitfalls encountered.
By graduation, you will be able to prove your ability by completing a strong investigation that demonstrates increased value to the journalistic profession. Campaigners and PR professionals would also find the course extremely valuable. The University of Glamorgan is now ideally located at the heart of the Welsh capital, allowing journalists to investigate a range of stories, from politics to crime and industrial scandals.
Our MA Investigative Journalism degree is pending Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC) accreditation.

The MA Investigative Journalism includes the following modules:
* News-gathering/Writing Skills
* Investigative Techniques
* Law, Politics and Regulation
* Academic Research Skills
* Relevant Media Theory
* Technical Skills – including video/online journalism
* Major Project – an original and innovative piece of investigative journalism with the support of experts.
This course culminates in a Masters-level dissertation module that can be an individual academic investigation or substantial piece of journalism practice.
How You Will Study
Modules involve a mixture of lectures, seminars and project work. You will be expected to produce practical work on a weekly basis and a placement is a compulsory element of the course. Although the course will be taught in English, it is possible to submit work in the medium of Welsh. All staff who teach journalism modules are professional journalists.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
