With safety, health and environmental issues becoming increasingly important, professionals with the right skills are in growing demand. MSc Safety, Health and Environmental Management has been developed using the expertise of staff in the Division, which has been recognised by the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) as a Centre of Excellence for Quality in Education. You will develop your knowledge of technical subject areas through an extension into managing health and safety, while giving due consideration to the sustainable economic development of business and the environment.

How You Will Study
MSc Safety, Health and Environmental Management degree is delivered in three major blocks, which offers an intensive but flexible learning pattern with two start points each year – February and September. For each module, you will usually complete two assignments based on case studies or workplace scenarios, plus an examination. There will be group work, recommended reading and tutorials each week. Your final dissertation will be based in industry.

If you successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) element of the course, you can apply for Graduate Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). You will then be required to undertake a period of Initial Professional Development (IPD) before becoming a Chartered Member of the Institution. This is an essential qualification for safety practitioners who need to manage safety and integrate the demands of corporate development and legislation

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Requirements

Entry Requirements:

A good Honours degree in a relevant subject, an appropriate professional qualification, or an HNC/HND with adequate managerial experience.

English Language Entry Requirements:

Proficiency in the English language is essential and the University recognises the following English language qualifications:

* GCSE pass in English at Grade C or above
* The British Council´s International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) with an average overall score of 6.5 for postgraduate study
* TOEFL minimum score for Postgraduate of 575 paper based, or 90-91 IBT
* UCLES/ Cambridge CAE or computer-based 232
