MSc Forensic Odontology at the University of Glamorgan is the only degree of its kind in the UK. Taught by internationally renowned experts in this field, you will develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills that are vital to a range of specialist forensic investigations such as disaster victim identification, bite mark analysis and its use in the protection of vulnerable people.
Investigative forensic odontology has been applied to many pre- and post- 2000 events, including multiple fatality incidents such as the earthquakes in Haiti and New Zealand, and the aftermath of terrorist attacks. Increasingly, forensic odontology skills are used in investigations concerning child protection and protection of the elderly.
This award has been designed for those who hold a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree. It is run in conjunction with Expert Forensics and will enable you to act as an expert witness to present evidence in this specialist and rapidly expanding field of forensic science.
“The lecturers were knowledgeable and experienced, and the emphasis on real cases and mock exercises such as court appearances, disaster victim identification, and bite mark analysis, are invaluable for working in this field.” Nathan L Brown, MSc Forensic Odontology
