* 50% of your time will be spent on a placement, so you'll get hands-on experience as well as learning the theory.

About the course
It's 52 weeks long and is made up of 50% theory and 50% practice in a placement.
As a Postgraduate Diploma student, by the end of the course, we expect that you'll:

* have the skills to become an Advanced Practitioner in your own area of expertise
* be committed to lifelong learning, encourage colleagues to be and contribute to national debates
* be able to demonstrate a critical understanding in clinical practice, care and programme management, clinical practice leadership, and clinical practice development
* show leadership and have a critical in depth knowledge of professional roles and function, so you can bring about integrated and high quality health and social care, through working with other professionals effectively, networking and team working
* have skills and a critical knowledge of research and evidence based practice so you can influence and deliver high quality care.

As well as those things listed above, as an MSc student, we expect that you'll carry out an extended, innovative and critical research about the theory and practice of your chosen award.

You should:

* have an entry on an appropriate part of the NMC Register
* be employed by the Primary Care Trusts providing sponsorship
* have 120 credits at degree level or equivalent academic credits or Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)
* be working in an area which enables achievement of the individual pathway aims and module learning outcomes.

If you're undertaking a recordable pathway, you must have completed a period of sufficient length to have consolidated pre-registration outcomes and to have gained a deeper understanding in relevant professional practice. This will normally be one year.

It will be the employer's responsibility to ensure that any necessary CRB and health checks are carried out before confirming the offer of a course place.

If you're applying for an postgraduate course, you will need at least:
* IELTS: 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all areas).
* TOEFL: 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), or 80 (internet based)
* Pearson Test of Academic English: 51
* Cambridge Advanced Certificate: Pass
* London Tests of English: we accept level 5 for postgraduate courses
* International GCE O Level English Language: Grade C
* International GCSE English or English as a Second Language: Grade C.
