You can choose between three different directions within marine biology, marine biodiversity, aquatic ecology or fish biology. Depending on chosen direction, students who have succeeded will have a good knowledge of flora and fauna in Norwegian and Nordic seas.

They will have insight in and gain experience when it comes to the use of marine biological field and lab methodologies, general methods for studying biodiversity and ecology and a good knowledge of aquatic ecological processes and patterns. They may specialise in physiology and anatomy, fish behaviour, genetics and systematic and larval ecology. They will also be trained in conducting an independent scientific study.

Contents

A master´s programme in marine biology consists of an individual research project (Master´s thesis) of 60 ECTC and courses or special topics of 60 ECTS.
