Location of University of Limerick

Partnership has become an accepted modus operandi in the spheres of politics, economics and local development as well as in the workplace and has recently become the object of study in a number of institutes throughout Europe and the developing world.

The University of Limerick, in conjunction with the PAUL Partnership, has designed two complementary programmes to respond to the growth of partnerships in Ireland (Graduate Diploma and MA in Partnership Studies). These programmes are aimed at practitioners currently working in partnership settings and address the demand for accredited life-long learning which enhances people's work and personal skills as well as fostering academic achievement.

Both programmes are designed:

* to provide a broad knowledge and understanding of the intellectual and practical challenges of using partnership as a strategy
* to provide specialist knowledge on the areas of partnership & governance, public policy, social exclusion and the economics of organisations and government
* to develop and enhance the academic, personal and interpersonal skills required to operate effective partnerships
* to equip participants to undertake focused research and apply such research in a partnership context. Additionally, the MA in Partnership Studies will
* facilitate students to study with renowned experts as well as peer groups from other European universities by to participating in an International Summer
school for mid-career Masters' students.
* enable participants to link academic theory with practical reality by engaging in self-selected focused research on an issue or problem relating to their partnership activity, linking it to appropriate theory/concepts and designing a model or identifying a solution which will define the way forward.
