The LL.M. in International Commercial Law is offered on a one year full-time basis and a two year part-time basis. The full programme comprises 6 substantive modules, 2 research and writing support modules and a 15,000 word dissertation. The full-time programme runs over two semesters with the dissertation being completed over the summer, while the part-time programme runs over 4 semesters with the dissertation being completed over the second summer.
The programme will be particularly attractive to law graduates who wish to develop a specialisation in commercial law, and particularly an ability to understand and apply commercial law in multi-jurisdictional scenarios. The programme will enhance the career prospects of graduates, those starting careers in the legal professions, in-house legal advisers and those lawyers working in the public sector.
Objectives
* The aims and objectives of the programme are to deepen understanding and knowledge of certain aspects of international commercial law, thus enhancing a student's career prospects, expertise and enjoyment of his/her work.
* The emphasis is on the areas of law, such as credit and security, intellectual property and competition law, which are critical to the management of most businesses.
* Experts in the relevant areas of law will assist the student's understanding, interpretation and ability to apply particular aspects of commercial law.
* It is also expected that some aspiring solicitors will enrol with a view to securing traineeships at law firms. Those students will have an opportunity to specialise in international commercial law earlier in their career and to add greater value to their workplace in due course.

*These modules are taken on a pass/fail basis.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take test* A second class honours in an undergraduate law degree or another degree in which the legal component accounts for at least 50% of the whole programme (2:2) (Primary degree: level 8 NQAI).
* In exceptional circumstances an applicant who cannot satisfy the undergraduate requirement may be accepted on the basis of relevant professional experience.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
As all international students are required to possess sufficient language skills to attend lectures and sit examinations at the University of Limerick, students should be competent to communicate through the medium of English prior to their arrival.
Students must have a minimum score of 550 (paper based) or 213(computer based) 80 (internet based) in TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score in the range of 6.5-7 and not less than 6.0 in any one component.
