The international M.A. study program "Psychology of Excellence in Business and Education" is located in the heart of Munich, the famous capital city of Bavaria. Since 1998 it offers a unique opportunity for students who are looking for an excellence step in their careers. As part of the well known Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU), the program already has attracted students from more than 40 different countries.
The program conveys fundamental skills and knowledge from educational and organisational psychology with a clear focus on excellence. 120 credits can be earned by attending classes in six different modules, written and oral exams, a master thesis and one internship. As part of a dynamic world, the program has established many strategic alliances with prestigious organizations through master thesis, internships and cooperative research projects.
Psychology of Excellence in Business and Education in based on a credit system where 120 credits can be earned. The course of study includes classes in six different modules, written and oral exams, a Master's thesis and one internship. The coursework focuses broadly on excellence in various fields of Psychology, in particular with respect to Business and Education. Students Major is in Identification and Promotion of Excellence, the First Minor in Educational Sciences, and students may choose one of the following subject areas as their Second Minor: Sociology, Philosophy or Science Education.
Classes such as Excellence and related concepts (expertise, creativity, ability), Emotional and motivational aspects of excellence, Advanced statistics, Research design and evaluation, Assessment of giftedness and talent search, Programs for promoting excellence and giftedness, Effective leadership in organizations, Organizational development, Quality management, Learning environment and educational technology, Corporate ethics and Sociology of economics are some of the courses offered within different modules.
One 8-week internship is required. Students have done internships in various European, US, Canadian and Australian Universities and institutions. Our students have also conducted internships in various large German companies in different areas such as Human Resources, Assessment and Leadership.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testWe welcome all applications of candidates with a Bachelor degree or its equivalent in Psychology or related fields, e.g. Education and Business; with a proof of fluency in English (computer based TOEFL score of 213, or internet based - 80, or IELTS - 6.0); and grade point average "good" or "very good" ("B" or equivalent) from their previous studies.
Candidates with the following qualifications will be granted direct admission to Psychology of Excellence in Business and Education:
* Proof of fluency in both spoken and written English; i.e. a computer based TOEFL score of 250 (internet based better than 100, paper based more than 600) and an essay score of at least 4.0, an IELTS total score of band 7.0 or better. All tests should be not older than 2 years.
* Bachelor degree, Vordiplom or Zwischenprüfung, or the legal equivalent of these degrees in the field of Psychology.
* Grade point average including all courses at the University level of "very good" standing, i.e. "A" average or equivalent of 1.5 by the German grading system or better.
For Africa: First class, upper division or better.
For the admission of candidates who do not fulfill these requirements, preference will be given to next best grade point average scores, language test scores and fit of the educational background to the study focus of our program.
Degree Prerequisites:
The Psychology of Excellence in Business and Education program offers degrees with the following titles:
Master of Arts or Magister Artium.
According to German university law (Hochschulgesetz), to be eligible for the legal title "Master of Arts", students must have completed a professional degree, i.e. B.A., B.Sc., M.A., etc. The German "Vordiplom" is not considered a professional degree under German law.
Students with a Vordiplom or Zwischenprüfung may, however, still participate in Psychology of Excellence and receive the degree title "Magister Artium" upon successful completion of the program.
