The demand in the high technology industry for employment of graduates in Applied Physics has been and continues to be very high. Furthermore, feedback from industry indicates that there is a perceived shortage of potential employees with an applied physical science background and, in particular, with an understanding of the methodology of physics and a knowledge of the physical principles underlying the operation of industrial processes and equipment.
Aims and Objectives of the course
1. To meet the need for additional training in the principles and methodology of physics for people who are employed in high technology industries and also for those whose career goals include such employment.
2. To provide a broad based education and training in the principles of physics relevant to modern industrial practice.
3. To meet the needs of graduates who wish to augment their existing technical and analytical skills with an understanding of the methodology of physics and knowledge of the physical principles underlying the operation of industrial processes and equipment.
Career Oppurtunities
The ubiquitous nature of physics is reflected in the wide range of careers open to physicists. Some of the more obvious career opportunities are:
* Semiconductor Devices and Microelectronics
* Optoelectronics
* Sensors and Transducers
* Telecommunications
* Product Design and Development
* Materials Science
* Laser Physics
* Acoustics and Ultrasonics
* Biophysics and Medical Physics
