Location of University College Cork

This MA degree (CKE37) aims to enable the student to see French literature differently by studying it from a specifically comparative point of view. Students will have the opportunity to work on a range of theoretical approaches which underpin comparative literature, such as reception theory, intertextuality, translation theory, literary history.

Learning OutcomesOn successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:
* Engage critically with the theoretical and methodological frameworks underpinning comparative literature;
* Show an ability to apply appropriate comparative methodologies to selected texts;
* Comment critically and effectively on secondary literature in the area;
* Organize and deliver an oral presentation based on research/literature;
* Write effectively and at significant length on a selected issue, making a genuine contribution within the area.


Contents

Part I consists of taught modules to the value of 45 credits. Part II consists of a dissertation to the value of 45 credits.
