Programme Description

The Department of French will be interested to hear at any time from well-qualified graduates wishing to pursue postgraduate work in French. At present, we have postgraduate students working on a range of degrees and a number of these students are working on research degrees.

Various forms of funding are available for the support of research. Members of the Department carry out research in a wide range of areas of French as an academic discipline. The Department also encourages interdisciplinary projects.

The MA in French (Creativity/Literature/Film) offers the opportunity for students to develop their reading skills in relation to French literary and dramatic texts, and to film.

The course aims to promote creative forms of critical response to primary texts in French, and to explore the nature of different forms of creativity and the links between them.
