This postgraduate programme is designed for graduates interested in pursuing a career in marketing consultancy, marketing research, and marketing management in either national or international food companies, retailers or support agencies.
It is intended for graduates who have majored in a business related subject to degree level or equivalent and who wish to develop or enhance their applied marketing skills and extend their knowledge of the food sector.
Career Opportunities
The food sector is proving to be considerably more resilient than the rest of the economy with record exports over the past year.
At home recent graduates have taken up positions with companies including the Irish Dairy Board, Agra Trading, Bord Bia, and Keepak, amongst others. Overseas, some have gone to the UK to fill posts with the likes of Verdict Market Research and Sainsbury’s marketing department based in London. In the past our graduates, and particularly those with strong language skills, have been successful in filling positions on IBECs export orientation programme.
The programme is divided into two parts.
The first part consists of a combination of examination and coursework. It is designed to provide you with a detailed understanding of food marketing, complemented with a rigorous grounding in quantitative methods and relationship marketing. Site visits to manufacturing, retailing and market research companies, coupled with industry presenters will play an integral part of the learning process.
The second part of the programme will commence after examinations and consists of a Food Marketing Research Project. This report will deal with a specific business or research issue and gives you the opportunity to display the skills and knowledge acquired during Part 1 of the programme.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
