Programme Description

This programme is designed to help a wide range of healthcare professionals develop their management skills. It attracts people from many areas, including primary care, acute care and the private sector.

Many have clinical backgrounds, some are career healthcare managers, others work in specialist support services. Students will be given a comprehensive overview of management and its applications in healthcare services ? thereby developing a rigorous and structured approach to day-to-day management and planning, and to decision making on major new initiatives.

Candidates must hold at least an undergraduate degree or professional qualification and have at least two years relevant professional experience. Candidates with other equivalent educational qualifications may be considered, subject to the approval of the Faculty of Commerce.

Contents

The goal of this programme is to develop the management skills of healthcare professionals in both the public and private healthcare sectors. The programme attracts participants from many areas within the healthcare sector, including primary care, acute care and specialist support services. The programme provides participants with a comprehensive overview of strategic management and its applications within the healthcare sector nationally and internationally. On completion of the programme, participants will have developed a rigorous and structured approach to effective strategy development and implementation, decision-marking and day-to day management and planning in the context of their own organisations or future careers.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

Entry requirements

Candidates must hold at least an undergraduate degree or professional qualification and have at least two years relevant professional experience. Candidates with other equivalent educational qualifications may be considered, subject to the approval of the Faculty of Commerce.

English Language Requirements

All applicants whose first language is not English are required to sit either an IELTS or TOEFL test.

English Language Requirements for Postgraduate Degree Programmes:

* College of Business and Law: Business IELTS 6.5 and Law IELTS 6.5
* College of Science, Engineering and Food Science: IELTS 6
* College of Medicine and Health: IELTS 6.5
