Programme Description

The MSc in Applied Science (Mobile Networking and Computing) is a full-time taught Master's Degree running for one year from the date of first registration for the programme.

The programme aims to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills required to contribute to the vital area of mobile networks as mobile software developers, mobile networks specialists and researchers.

Understanding the features of mobile networks, learning the new protocols and algorithms devised for these systems, designing the services, applications and customized systems are the specific goals of the program.

Course Content

Students take 12 units as follows:

6 Core units:

* Selected Advanced Topics in Networking (1 unit)
* Mobile Network Protocols (1 unit)
* Mobile Systems Design I (1 unit)
* Mobile Systems Design II (1 unit)
* Mobile Applications Design (1 unit)
* Embedded Systems (1 unit)

3 Elective units from the following:

* Intelligent Systems (2 units)
* Intelligent Systems Applications I (1 unit)
* Real-Time Systems (2 units)
* Advanced Software Development (1 unit)
* Research project: (3 units)

Laboratory work will be associated with some or all of the units.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must have obtained at least a Second Class Honours degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.

Eligibility - via the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Science (Computer Science & Software Engineering)

Candidates who have obtained at least a Second Class Honours, Grade 1 at the first attempt in the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Science (Software Engineering) or equivalent.

English Language Requirements

All applicants whose first language is not English are required to sit either an IELTS or TOEFL test.

English Language Requirements for Postgraduate Degree Programmes:

* College of Science, Engineering and Food Science: IELTS 6
* College of Medicine and Health: IELTS 6.5
