To provide a professional development programme in counselling, psychotherapy and related topics, for experienced and qualified professionals who seek to enhance their practice and qualifications through further study. To provide counselling and psychotherapy practitioners with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills as therapists. To develop the skills and expertise as researchers with the ability to critically appraise and evaluate their own work and that of others.

* Research Dissertation
Teaching and assessment methods
Each module is assessed by either an essay, project, taped session/transcript/process commentary or case study, and a reflective learning journal, or a research proposal. The dissertation will be an original study of 15,000-20,000 words.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testEntry RequirementsNormally an honours degree (2.2 or above) or equivalent and/or substantial training in counselling or psychotherapy of not less than 400 hours; substantial experience working as a counsellor or therapist; and successful completion of the University of Leicester´s Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Studies (Supervision) or (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).
English Language Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English, and who have not lived in a country where the first language is English for at least three years immediately before the start of their course, need to satisfy the University´s English language requirement.
* From students who take IELTS (the British Council´s International English Language Testing System), we look for an overall score of 6.0 or above for courses in Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Geology, Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy, and 6.5 or above for all other courses.
* From students who take TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), we look for 575/233/90* or above for courses in Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Geology, Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy, and 600/250/100* for all other courses. (*Scores for paper-based/computer-based/internet-based versions of TOEFL)
As well as the internationally-known IELTS and TOEFL tests, the University also accepts many other English language qualifications.
