To provide an understanding of the legal basis of employment relations; to provide a working knowledge of the United Kingdom and European Union legislation and case law in the employment sphere; to analyse the scope and limitation of the law in relation to combating discrimination; to understand the legal regulation of termination of employment, including individual dispute resolution; to consider collective labour relations, the role of collective bargaining and employee participation in the workplace and the provision of a legal framework within which these activities may take place; to consider the effect of human rights and international labour law on the employment relationship.

Teaching and assessment methods
The programme is taught by distance learning combined with teaching weekends. You are provided with comprehensive course materials. All modules are assessed by written coursework. You are also able to access ongoing study support via the internet and by contacting the administrative and academic teams.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Normally either a first or second class honours degree or an equivalent professional qualification.
English Language Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English, and who have not lived in a country where the first language is English for at least three years immediately before the start of their course, need to satisfy the University´s English language requirement.
* From students who take IELTS (the British Council´s International English Language Testing System), we look for an overall score of 6.0 or above for courses in Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Geology, Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy, and 6.5 or above for all other courses.
* From students who take TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), we look for 575/233/90* or above for courses in Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Geology, Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy, and 600/250/100* for all other courses. (*Scores for paper-based/computer-based/internet-based versions of TOEFL)
As well as the internationally-known IELTS and TOEFL tests, the University also accepts many other English language qualifications.
