The unit content addresses key issues that shape organisations, their strategic orientation and transformation.
* Management Decisions and Research Methods: explores quantitative approaches to decision analysis and information systems, and provides detailed guidance for planning and undertaking an effective management research project.
* Strategic Leadership: aims to develop your analytical and decision-making skills in complex strategic situations. It applies the concepts explored in Strategy and Change to a variety of corporate organisational concepts. This subject emphasises group-based activities and includes company visits, external corporate speakers and the European residential.
Part Three
Consultancy and Business Innovation Project will see you operating as part of a small team, usually at board level. This unit will provide you with an opportunity to directly assist an external organisation in finding innovative yet realistic solutions to its current and future strategic challenges. This team-based assignment provides an opportunity to directly assist senior management in finding innovative yet realistic solutions to their current and future strategic challenges. A member of the MBA academic team will act as project supervisor. We have been operating these projects for over ten years and they have been highly successful for the organisations involved. Course members consider this assignment to be one of the most rewarding experiences on the MBA programme.
In your Research Project you will undertake a substantial management research project (dissertation) that combines a review of previous research undertaken in your chosen topic with your own data collection and analysis. The research project provides a unique opportunity for you to demonstrate the subject knowledge you have acquired, as well as your analytical abilities and problem-solving skills - both are highly regarded by potential employers. During this phase your research will be supervised by an individually allocated experienced academic who has expertise in your chosen topic area. Course members typically undertake their research project within the context of their current or most recent employer.
