Project management has grown into more than just a specialist subject in the education
of managers, engineers and others. Its place as a mainstream management discipline
within many organisations is supported widely through academic, government and
both public and private sectors.

Students will gain:
o a broad understanding of project management including its current tools
and techniques
o increased ability to contribute to projects and business effectiveness through
leadership of projects
o an understanding of implementing change through projects

Benefits to employers and organisations will include project managers:
o with a thorough understanding of project management techniques and concepts,
who are capable of managing change successfully
o with a proven ability to analyse project problems, assess needs and devise and
implement solutions

The course emphasises a practical managerial approach covering both the principles and techniques of project management. It covers the necessary systematic and strategic skills needed to achieve a competitive advantage - essential for your career development.

Designed specifically for the busy working professional it is delivered through a series of block sessions each comprising three consecutive days (9:00 - 17:00 usually Tuesday to Thursday) and Masterclasses (two weekday evening session 5:00 - 20:00 hours each year). There are a total of eight days attendance in the first year and nine in the second. The eight days in the first year include a two day induction programme.

Teaching is covered in two academic years (September-May) and the rest of the programme is given over to a research based dissertation with the support of a dissertation supervisor.
