Software Engineering Master´s programme comprises 120hec and is targeted for the students who want to excel in continuous delivery of customer value in the modern software intensive society. The program provides a potential for growing and developing competence in both technical subjects like advanced software architectures and in managerial topics like project management or innovation.
The programme is structured around a set of base recommended courses in the area of software engineering with the specializations in the following areas: Management (projects, organizations, innovation), Advanced software architecting and modeling, Verification and validation and Implementation.
The first term is dedicated to guide the development of students competences in recognizing and developing customer value through project management, quality management and requirements engineering. These skills form a solid base for actively engaging students in software development projects later in the programme. As the modern world calls for advanced software engineering methods we provide courses that teach students how to recognize the best available methods and tools, e.g. as part of the course Empirical Software Engineering. By providing this course we familiarize our students with the strong industrial orientation of our program and help them to get oriented in group s research activities - skills which are very important for master students.
The second term continues with advanced concepts within Model Driven Engineering, software processes with focus on Agile methods, and software architecture. The students are also taught model-based testing which enables them to extend their knowledge on quality management and become more efficient in finding defects in software products.
The third term is intended to provide the student with the possibility to extend his or her knowledge by choosing among several elective courses within the area of applied Information Technology, Computer Science or Information systems. The objective of this term is to help the students to broaden their knowledge in order to be prepared better for the master thesis in industry in the final term.
