Location of Sheffield Hallam University

This course is for practitioners working at or moving towards advanced practice in their clinical field. It provides you with a flexible programme of study that reflects your evolving scope of practice and is tailored to your individual development needs.

You critically evaluate theoretical perspectives to help inform and underpin your decision making and develop your ability to work collaboratively across professional boundaries.

The course improves your independent and active learning ability, enabling you to

* advance your knowledge, understanding and skills
* review and enhance your own and others practice
* develop your management of complex issues and problems
* lead practice developments

It will also support and enable you to satisfy professional body requirements for advanced practice and statutory requirements for continuing professional development (CPD). This increases your employability and career potential.

This course prepares you for advanced level practice or to begin working towards consultant practice.

After graduation, you are able to further your career in clinical practice in a variety of settings in the UK or internationally. Or you may pursue a career in teaching or research.

You can also continue further study to Professional Doctorate or a PhD level.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Requirements

Normally you need one from

* a degree in therapeutic radiography
* a Diploma of the College of Radiographers (T) or equivalent study in therapeutic radiography
* an equivalent healthcare degree

If English is a second language, you also need an IELTS of 6.0 (or TOEFL equivalent 575 / 232).

You also need a letter of support from line manager indicating that you are taking an appropriate role in practice.

We consider applicants on an individual basis. To be accepted, you need to satisfy the course leader that you have an ability to complete the course.

You must be prepared to be intellectually challenged and to reflect on your clinical practice and consider how it may be improved based on critical evaluation. You need to be motivated, able to contribute to discussion and debate, and be prepared to study independently to explore the research literature that underpins practice.
