Information technology, communications and electronics are some of the fastest growing areas of the economy.

Computer networks provide the infrastructure for most

* manufacturers

And many companies increasingly rely on computer and network engineering, which is now a global discipline. This course is hardware-based, and examines the design, specification, and integration of current and next generation computer and communications network technologies. It is ideal for professionals from communications, hardware design and development. And it is particularly useful for people working in companies that rely on constant innovation.

This course provides an opportunity for you to

After successfully completing this course you will be able to customise computer systems and be proficient in designing and developing computer networks.


Contents

The course has two main themes, communication and networks, and computer engineering. You study eight modules plus a major project.

Communications and network modules

At least three from

* communication engineering
* communication Media
* communication networks
* network applications

Computer engineering modules

At least three from

* microprocessor engineering
* object-oriented methods
* operating systems
* software engineering

Option modules

Up to two from

* applicable artificial intelligence
* business process management
* digital signal processing
* modern computer architectures
* project (equivalent to four modules)

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

Normal you need at least a second class honours degree from a UK institution in a relevant engineering or science subject, or an equivalent qualification from the UK or overseas.

We may also accept other qualifications, for example an HND, backed up with relevant industrial experience.
If English is not your first language you normally need an IELTS score of at least 6.0.
