Developmental psychology studies stability and change in our physical, cognitive, social and emotional development through the lifespan. It explores similarities and differences in the development of individuals and aims to understand how factors such as biology and the environment shape our development.
The course is for
* psychology graduates seeking to advance their knowledge of developmental psychology
* graduates from non-psychology backgrounds who want to apply developmental psychology in the workplace
* graduates considering research careers or professional training in a developmental field or in other areas of psychology
It covers human development through the lifespan - from infancy, childhood and adolescence into adulthood and old age.

Research methods and statistics
You complete one of the following modules depending on your previous study of psychology at undergraduate level
* fundamentals in design and statistics
* advanced statistics and design
Research project (PgDip) or dissertation (MSc)
With support from your supervisor, you research a developmental psychology topic of your choice. You develop a research question, design a study, collect and analyse data, evaluate your findings and submit a written report based on your study.

For the MSc, you also complete the module

* interventions and practice evaluations
Careers include
* research in developmental psychology, such as research worker posts or doctoral research
* progression on to further professional training routes including clinical psychology, educational psychology and counselling
* practical work with developmental groups, for example, in schools or in health and social care
* lecturing or teaching in psychology
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Typically you need qualifications equivalent to a UK undergraduate degree and
