This course is for facilities managers wanting to improve their skills and career prospects and for other graduates who want to enter the field. We designed it in collaboration with employers. It meets the needs of people who manage in-sourced or out-sourced facilities for their own organisation or provide facilities management services to other organisations.
The philosophy behind the course is that in any organisation facilities management is a distinct management discipline that supports the core business relationship between people, processes and places. You study a carefully designed curriculum of core management topics. This involves technical subjects ranging from procuring and using technology and buildings, to setting up and managing projects and services.
This benefits you by supporting the development of your leadership and management skills. By transferring what you learn on the course, you can raise the profile of facilities management and the contribution it makes to the effectiveness of the organisation.
We gear the course towards supporting part-time students who are combining study and a demanding full-time job. You may also be returning to study after a long break from education.

If you are employed in facilities management this qualification equips you with the knowledge and skills to improve your performance in your present job and to progress more rapidly up the career ladder.
As a new entrant in the field, it gives you the means to develop a career in facilities management at a senior level, including property and premises management, facilities and general management.
Assessment
By written coursework. There are no traditional formal examinations. The MBA requires the completion of an assessed dissertation.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

A suitable good first degree or relevant managerial and operational experience. We assess all applicants on merit and we can advise you about this.

Accreditation
Subject to continuing accreditation, this course is accredited by the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM). Successful completion of the postgraduate diploma allows you exemption from the Institute´s Parts 1 and 2 written examinations. Submission of a suitable portfolio of evidence then gains you the formal BIFM professional qualification in facilities management.
The MBA is also approved by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). On entry to the part-time course, or completion of the full-time course, you may register your experience for the RICS´ Assessment of Professional Competence.
