Location of Budapest University of Technology and Economics
The Faculty of Chemical Engineering aims for its students to acquire a profound theoretical knowledge in mathematics, physics and physical chemistry. It also aims to have its students experience, during their studies, all the types of tasks that chemical engineers encounter in their practical everyday work.
Students will acquire up-to-date laboratory skills, get acquainted with the machines and apparati used in the chemical industry, know the principles needed for their optimal operation, and develop expertise in a more specific technology within the chemical, food and light industries. In the framework of industrial training, students will learn to carry out technological design and solve research problems in the preparation for their diploma projects.
Graduates of this Faculty will be versed in:
o The operations and personnel involved in chemical processes on an industrial scale,
o The development of the technology and products of industrial chemical processes,
o The design of industrial chemical processes,
o How a chemical product or application is introduced into the national economy, and
o The elaboration of new chemical processes, operations and technologies.
Contents
Students receive a thorough introduction to areas basic to chemical engineering before they begin their specialisations in the sixth semester.
Courses in each of the following branches are available to students at all levels:
o Industrial Biological and Food Technology
o Industrial Organic Synthesises
o Industrial Pharmaceutics
o Polymer Technology
o Textile Technology
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

o B.Sc. degree or its equivalent, (with notarized official English translations of all transcripts. Unofficial copies are not accepted.)
o Average grades of "B" or better (depends on faculty requirements)
o Proof of English language proficiency at one of the following levels:
a) TOEFL test score of 550 or the new computer based score 213,
b) Cambridge First Certificate "B",
c) ELTS score of 5.0
Acceptance will be decided by the dean of the faculty. A one- or two-semester program of transition or refresher courses (Pre-M.Sc. Course) may be recommended prior to the M.Sc. Program.
