This new course provides practical education in the field of software engineering. The modern world runs on computer software. So many aspects of daily life, from talking to our friends on a mobile phone through to the control of your air-conditioning, are made possible by software. Every day new applications of software are devised which means the demand for skilled software engineers who can design and program a range of innovative systems is greater than ever.

This course is focused on meeting this demand for skilled software engineers. Sheffield Hallam University has a long and successful tradition of delivering courses aimed at developing students with highly employable skills.

You need an aptitude for programming and may have

* studied computing at university

Requirements

Normally you need one of the following

* a good honours degree (2.1 or above) in a computing-related discipline
* a good honours degree or equivalent in any area plus at least one year of practical experience in a relevant profession
* an HND, FdSc or equivalent, plus at least two years of practical experience in a relevant profession

It is essential that you have had some exposure to a complex programming language, such as Java or C++, and will be competent with basic web technologies.

If English is not your first language you normally need an IELTS score of at least 6.0.
