It may be of particular interest to you if you would like to gain credit for research you are already undertaking as part of your work.

The course is conducted entirely by distance learning, offering you the flexibility to study while you continue to work in the guidance field. However you will gain continual support from experienced career guidance tutors.

Skills

You will gain research, communication and presentation skills to complement the knowledge and experience you have already gained in your work and previous qualifications.

Career Prospects

As Edinburgh's top university for Graduate Employability (HESA 2010) and one of the top in the UK for Graduate Prospects (The Independent and The Times University Guides for 2009), we can offer you a valuable head-start in your chosen career.
Although you will already be working in the career guidance field, this course can benefit you if you are looking for a promotion with your existing employer, or aspire to progress into another job. You may also go on to further academic research.

Contents

This is a distance learning course which lasts approximately one year. You will learn mainly through independent study and research but will have close contact with tutors.

You will study one module in Social Research Skills for Career Education and Guidance and complete a focused piece of research in career education and guidance. On successful completion of the module and dissertation you will be awarded with an MSc in Career Guidance.
