This course provides essential theory and practical training in the sustainable management of lakes, rivers, estuaries and coastal seas. This is an industry relevant course developed in consultation with government agencies at the forefront of policy development.
As well as providing you with a good theoretical knowledge of all aquatic ecosystems, you'll acquire practical skills through the application of theory to real scenarios. This includes training in field and laboratory techniques, ecological assessments, identification, bio-monitoring and data analysis. You'll learn how to manage and sustain aquatic ecosystems and their resources in response to habitat degradation. These skills will greatly enhance your employability in the industry.
You'll also gain a good understanding of relevant UK and EU legislation and how it is used by the industry, plus the commercial organisations involved in water and waste treatment and the government bodies involved in regulating them.
There are a number of SAAS funded places available: for details see the course web page at Download a course brochure here
