These days, it's not enough for an interactive media experience to be merely functional. The user expects an entertaining, fun or stimulating experience, and the industry demands professionals who are able to deliver just that.
Particularly relevant to design or psychology graduates, this course draws on up to the minute technology and theory to meet the needs of the web design and digital media industries.
You'll learn to create enjoyable digital media experiences that engage the user, as well as developing your knowledge of the theories that underlie the deceptively simple concept of interactivity.

Skills

The course combines theory with practice, and you'll develop valuable skills and knowledge in both. You'll learn practical skills such as programming, web page design and usability methods, and learn the theories behind the psychology of interactivity and user behaviour, research and management of interactive projects.

Career Prospects

As Edinburgh's top university for Graduate Employability (HESA 2010) and one of the top in the UK for Graduate Prospects (The Independent and The Times University Guides for 2009), we can offer you a valuable head-start in your chosen career.
Successfully completing this course will lead to career opportunities in a number of areas, such as:

* design conultanciess
* web solutions
* interaction design for mobile phones, satnavs, etc.

As a graduate in User Experience, you'll be in high demand, as more and more businesses and research institutions realise the importance of the user experience in their interactive systems.
