We have an excellent record of placing graduates in relevant employment because we provide you with the most up to date skills required by a rapidly advancing industry. A work placement module is integral to the programme. Your work placement, and possible first job, may well be in one of these areas:
* book publishing
* magazine and journal publishing
* corporate publishing
* digital publishing
* design and printing.
The course is studied full-time over one year and is split up into three trimesters with attendance of approximately 2.5 days per week. It is also possible to study by individualised part-time study over two years (approximately 1 or 2 days a week).
You'll learn through a variety of teaching methods including lectures, seminars & workshops, tutorials, and independent study. There are also regular master classes and visits from professionals working at the highest level in the industry. You will also get the chance to publish a project to professional standards and to contribute to publications in both print and online.
Our new Work Placement module has proven highly successful, even leading to full-time employment for some students. The placements are organised by the Module Leader and every Publishing student is guaranteed a place. Many students have had the opportunity to complete more than one placement, and the list of placements is extremely varied - from authors' agents to publishing houses, from printers to design agencies - thus providing for all publishing interests.
