Students can choose their own route through this programme, and the mode of study depends on the chosen route.
The Certificate in Advanced Professional Studies is awarded after successful completion of four modules. The Diploma is awarded after eight modules and can serve as the basis for progress towards the MSc degree.
Participants can obtain credit towards the award in a variety of ways. Most significantly, credit can be gained from professional development activities undertaken within five years prior to entry. At Diploma level, four of the eight modules can be substituted with prior learning; at Certificate level, two of the four modules can be substituted in this way.
The balance of the course requires the completion of modules chosen from the current Faculty portfolio, validated modules taught by an external agency (eg education authority), independent study modules, or work-based learning agreements.
To help with their course design, students normally take Preparation and Planning for Postgraduate Study as the first module in their programme and this is a requirement for the award of the Diploma.
The MSc is studied independently, with tutor support. The Professional Enquiry and Development module is equivalent to four modules (60 SM points) and the outcome is a dissertation or report of 12-16,000 words.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testMSc: In addition to the above, applicants should have either a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Professional Studies, or an appropriate Postgraduate Diploma, or 120 SM credit points for appropriately assessed prior learning.
In addition to academic qualifications, you must also be able to show that you have a sufficient grasp of English. If English is not your first language you will need to provide evidence of your proficiency before you can begin the course, and you are strongly advised to take the IELTS or the TOEFL test examination. The University's general entry requirements are IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 600 (including the Test of Written English), TOEFL 250 (computer based test) and TOEFL 100 (internet based test).
