The courses offered by the Bioengineering Unit include the following qualifications in Bioengineering:
* MSc/PgDip/PgCert in Bioengineering by Instruction
* MPhil in Bioengineering by Research
* PhD in Bioengineering by Research
MSc/PgDip/PgCert Bioengineering
This credit-based modular conversion course is designed to provide students with a broad training in bioengineering, a field of expertise bringing together engineering, medicine and the life and physical sciences.
Commencing 2010/2011 entry, the MSc in Bioengineering is accredited by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM). An IPEM-accredited MSc is normally required for those wishing to pursue careers as Clinical Scientists in the National Health Service.

MPhil and PhD in Bioengineering by Research
Opportunities are available to study for a research degree of MPhil and PhD in Bioengineering.
Candidates with qualifications in engineering, science, medicine and paramedical subjects are considered for courses of study which lead to the MPhil and PhD postgraduate research degrees. Research students will normally attend some of the classes offered in the MSc course (above) as well as undertaking a research or development project and thesis.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Entry Requirements
First- or second-class Honours degree of a UK university (or equivalent qualification) in engineering, physical science, life science, medicine, or a profession allied to medicine. Candidates with other qualifications, or who may benefit from a longer period of study, may take the MSc over 21 months.
In addition to academic qualifications, you must also be able to show that you have a sufficient grasp of English. If English is not your first language you will need to provide evidence of your proficiency before you can begin the course, and you are strongly advised to take the IELTS or the TOEFL test examination. The University's general entry requirements are IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 600 (including the Test of Written English), TOEFL 250 (computer based test) and TOEFL 100 (internet based test).
