Location of Edinburgh Napier University

If you've already qualified at an honours level in an engineering discipline, this course will extend your skills into a specialist area of your choice. You'll gain experience and expertise in advanced engineering and management skills, culminating in a major project to demonstrate your practical knowledge. On completion, you'll be eligible for Chartered accreditation with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a valuable industry qualification and essential for career progression.

There are six different disciplines to choose from in the engineering suite:

* Mechanical
* Automation
* Electrical & Electronics
* Electronics & Computer
* Electronics & Communication
* Engineering with Management.

The aim of this course is to build on your existing engineering skills. Depending on your area of specialisation, you'll develop advanced learning and practical experience in a wide range of engineering applications, from IT management and research skills to mechatronics and design. You'll also hone your independent learning skills, management techniques and collaborative abilities.

Advanced engineering graduates are highly sought after in industry. Your specialisation will open up a variety of career choices in both the private and public sectors, such as :

* engineering research
* design and development
* engineering management.

Three compulsory taught modules:

* IT Management & Applications;
* Strategic Management;
* Research Skills

Five optional modules from a range including topics from:

* Communications;
* Computer Engineering;
* Electrical Engineering;
* Electronics;
* Energy;
* Management;
* Mechanical Engineering;
* Mechatronics;
* Polymers.

Final module: MSc Project

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

Applicants for MSc Engineering must normally hold an Honours Degree in Engineering (of any discipline) or a closely related subject. Alternatively an appropriate professional qualification equivalent to an Honours Degree or a lower level qualification and relevant industrial experience may be sufficient.

All applicants must normally have engineering principles, mathematics and computing.

English Language Requirements

If English is not your first language, you´ll need to provide evidence that you can read, write, speak and understand English satisfactorily. For most courses, in additional to satisfying the standard entry requirements, we normally require international students (check) to demonstrate their English ability through an English language test, usually IELTS (International English Language Testing System), or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language).

Courses require an IELTS score of 6.0, which is equivalent to ToEFL 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 79-80 (internet-based).

Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): Grade C (Score: 60)
