This MSc is designed to provide instruction and training in the most recent developments in a broad area of technology covering Electronic, Ultrasonic and Instrumentation Engineering. The course aims to provide students with an advanced and comprehensive coverage of specialist skills required by an engineer working in relevant areas.

The programme provides an excellent basis for engineers wishing to update their knowledge, or students who wish to go on to do research, or for first degree students wishing to enhance their training.

Contents

The programme is operated on a modular basis and consists of two semesters during which students follow a series of taught modules (120 credits), followed by a research project (60 credits) undertaken during the summer period.

You will be taught using the latest advances in teaching methods and electronic resources, as well as small-group and individual tuition.

All MSc students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering join a lively and thriving postgraduate community.

The MSc in Electronic and Ultrasonic Instrumentation is completed by full-time study over 12 months.

Compulsory taught modules of 70 credits are:
HDL for Programmable Logic with project, Instrumentation and Measurement with project, Engineering Ultrasonics with project and Ultrasonic Measurement Techniques.

Students undertake a project which is a major piece of advanced independent research, which you complete over the summer under the supervision of a specialist in your chosen area. We will provide you with advice and guidance while you select and refine your area of study, and offer close supervision and support as you complete your research and your MSc.

Most taught modules are assessed by examination and/or written work.

Tutors provide feedback on assignments. Our objective is to help you devleop the confidence to work as a professional academic, at ease with the conventions of
the discipline, and ready to tackle any area of research in Electronic and Ultrasonic Instrumentation.

In the early stages of your project dissertation, your supervisor will read through and comment on your draft work. The project dissertation itself comprises a significant piece of your own research.

* 2.2 (Minimum lower 2nd class hons degree or international equivalent)

Including: * Any numerate Electrical and Electronic Engineering degrees are eligible

Excluding: * All Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences & most other engineering subjects

IELTS: * 6.0 (no less than 5.0 in any element)

TOEFL paper based: * 550 with 4.0 in TWE

TOEFL IBT:

* 79 (no less than 17 in any element)
