The Master's in Applied Ethics focuses on the interaction between moral practice and ethical theory. You gain thorough knowledge of key methods, theories, and debates in applied ethics.

In the Master's programme in Applied Ethics, you learn about the ways in which the analysis of concrete problems leads to theoretical philosophical questions and vice versa. It provides you with with thorough knowledge of a number of ethical theories; familiarity with important methods and debates in applied ethics; and awareness of the implications of legal and political frameworks for ethical argumentation. You'll study in an interdisciplinary context, as viewpoints from several disciplines can strengthen ethical reflection and moral argumentation. This one year taught programme comprises courses in three main fields: Theory in Applied Ethics, Applied Ethics in Context and Fields of Application. You will write a final Master's thesis, which may be combined with an internship. This Master's is also offered as an Erasmus Mundus programme, giving you the opportunity to study at two cooperating universities and receive a double degree. Graduates of the programme have developed the necessary expertise to pursue an academic career, formulate policy recommendations, or structure constructive ethical analyses in their professional context.
