The course provides a broad-based study of community care, accessible to those working with all user groups, whether in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors. It can be completed to different levels and single modules can be accessed as part of continuing professional development.
The course offers both general and specialist modules to meet different educational and professional development needs.
The course aims to provide a student centred education designed to encourage application to practice. The content is relevant, up to date and located against the backdrop of increasingly 'integrated' ways of working.
All modules are delivered on one day per week across the academic year ; this would usually be a Wednesday. Students will be required to arrange time for additional private study. Single modules carry 15 credit points : Double modules carry 30 credit points.
Core Modules are:
* Principles of Community Care
* Values and Ethics in Community Care
* Research Methods in Community Care
* Practice of Community Care (double module)
Optional Modules are :
* Inter-professional Working in Community Care
* Community Care and Older People
* Community Care and People with Mental Health Problems
* Community Care and People with Learning Disabilities
