Course length
Part-time: MA: 12 months
The programme consists of a single module which addresses research methods, critical issues in research, and how to deliver a master’s dissertation. The dissertation comprises 20,000 words and, in addition, you produce a reflective practice essay which reviews your personal development arising from the workshop programme.
The programme is designed mostly for holders of a CIPD-approved Postgraduate Diploma in HRM. It functions as a top-up programme to master’s level for students who have successfully completed the taught element of a DHRM programme, and who would prefer to complete their programme of study through the award of the MA. To achieve this, candidates undertake a dissertation rather than a management report. In short, the MA builds on the taught modules taken as part of a qualification approved by the CIPD within its Professional Development Scheme. Students who meet all the CIPD’s requirements will achieve CIPD graduate status on completion of their MA studies.
For continuing students(from the Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resource Management)The programme consists of three taught modules delivered through a series of workshops: Resourcing and Reward, Employee Relations, and Organisation Theory and Design. Students also undertake a module in research methodology including critical issues in research and how to deliver a master’s dissertation. The dissertation comprises 20,000 words and, in addition, you produce a reflective practice essay which reviews your personal development arising from the workshop programme.
Upon graduation, if you are not already a member, but have completed the taught element of a CIPD-approved DHRM programme, you may apply for CIPD Graduate membership under the CIPD’s scheme of assessment of prior accredited learning.
