The Postgraduate Certificate in Management and Leadership aims to prepare you for practice as a professional manager and to expand your existing knowledge and develop key managerial skills relevant to your own organisation and to the wider organisational context. The course has been explicitly designed to ensure integration with your workplace experience.
The programme is widely recognised by employers as providing high quality management education. Many organisations use the Certificate in Management as a foundation for their general management development programmes. The PGCML is a highly regarded qualification in its own right but also offers a range of possibilities for progression onto other programmes, including the Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Leadership and an MA in Strategic Management and Leadership.
The part-time on-campus programme takes 9 months to complete and is delivered through a series of lectures and workshops at the Wheatley Campus, beginning in September. Alternatively the programme can be pursued online over a 12 month period.

To reflect the value that students over some 20 years have derived from mixed learning groups of managers and HR professionals, the Brookes PGCML offers a shared curriculum during the first semester. The other 50% of the programme is specifically tuned to the needs of the separate groups.
Management is a broad subject and its academic study combines theory, research and practical application, reflected both in the teaching staff and in the participants. Teaching staff combine a wealth of professional and practical experience with research interests. Participants are drawn from a wide range of specialist backgrounds (e.g. information technology, engineering, financial services, information technology, engineering, sales, public utilities, health care, and local government). This mix adds to the richness of the educational experience as participants are encouraged to bring their own experiences to the programme.
