The Master's programme in Science and Innovation Management focuses on science and technology driven processes of change from the perspective of innovation systems. In this programme you learn about technology and applications, about people and organisations, and gain a broad view of the policy, management and strategic aspects involved in realising an innovation. The first year of this two year research programme will provide you with generic methodological and theoretical knowledge and skills, and experience in applying the acquired innovation knowledge in a business setting. The second year you deepen your knowledge and skills in a chosen specialisation area by conducting an independent research project within a university, company, consultancy, or government institution. The results of your innovation study will be written as your culminating Master

Contents

The Master’s Programme in Science and Innovation Management consists of two academic years. You will be taking courses throughout the whole first Master’s year and the beginning of your second Master’s year.

  • The first year will provide you with generic methodological and theoretical knowledge and skills. It also offers experience with applying the acquired innovation knowledge in firms and policy settings.
  • The second year is dedicated to deepen and test your knowledge and skills in an area of your choice. In two elective courses, at the UU or elsewhere, you will highlight your profile. Most of the second year will be spent on your Master’s thesis, in which you will work on your own independent research project.
