Location of Keele University

At Keele we offer a very distinctive perspective to business students: the critical approach that is neither cynical nor deferential but always questioning the conventional wisdom. We want our graduates to become independent thinkers who never simply accept what they are told or chase the mirage of the latest business fad. The Keele MBA is not only about work but also about social climate. To perform well you need a stimulating environment; an institution that has not only a physical content but
also a personality. This is the largest campus in the UK with woods, lakes and a large country mansion, a friendly and safe place where warm friendships are created. Yet for the restless, London is only two hours away by train.

The Keele MBA is designed to provide students with an integrated knowledge of the core disciplines of management and an in-depth knowledge of their chosen specialist areas combined with a comprehensive appreciation of the management task. Graduates will have greater management awareness and increased personal confidence enabling them to discuss complex problems meaningfully and coherently. They will have developed leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and have the motivation to implement change and to improve existing management practices.

Teaching

The Keele MBA provides an intensive and intellectually challenging advanced study of management combining both practical and theoretical elements. Modules are taught within a strategic and international framework with the focus of the course on action learning, group dynamics and networking amongst fellow students. Teaching is a mixture of formal lectures, or management style seminars and group work with site visits, videos and computer programmes enriching the learning experience.

Assessment

Most modules are assessed by assignment and formal examination. The final assessment is based on the submission of a 15,000-20,000 word research dissertation that is undertaken by the student in conjunction with an academic supervisor.

Contents

Satisfactory completion of the MBA programme requires students to pass nine 15-credit taught modules (135 credits) plus a 60-credit dissertation, giving a total requirement of 195 M Level credits.
