Dental implantology is concerned with the replacement of missing teeth and supporting oral tissues with dental implants. These implants are inserted into the jawbones and support a dental prosthesis and are retained because of the intimacy of bone growth onto their surface. This programme aims to provide dental practitioners with a broad dental-implant experience.
Teaching and learning The Dental Implantology programme incorporates blended teaching and learning methods including seminars, clinical attachments, practical skills sessions, lectures and self-directed learning.
In the first year of the programmes, students are required to attend lectures and clinical attachments on a fortnightly basis. The second year is more intensive, and Diploma and MSc students are required to attend lectures and clinical attachments on a weekly basis. In both years, these take place on Mondays and Tuesdays. Lectures take place within the Dental School itself whilst clinical attachments take place at the Dental School, Manchester Royal Infirmary and at private clinics off campus.

* Basic Implant Surgical and Restorative Techniques
