The programme aims to provide theoretical and practical training in Structural Engineering, leading to a Masters degree by Examination and Dissertation. The content reflects current and likely future practice in structural analysis, design, appraisal, experimental techniques and the use of computers.
Career opportunities Those graduating from the programmes are equipped to take up a wide range of opportunities in theoretical and applied research or professional posts in project appraisal, implementation and management or geotechnical/structural design and analysis.
Module details The programme comprises compulsory taught course units, optional course units and a dissertation. To be eligible for the award of a masters degree you must complete ten course-units and a research dissertation. You select three optional units. Typical course units include: Advanced Theory of Structures; Reinforced Concrete Structures; Foundations for Structures; Structural Dynamics and Stability; Materials for Structures; Steel Structures; Engineering Project Management; Pre-stressed and Cable Structures; Advanced Project Management; Ground Engineering; Shell Structures; Earthquake Engineering.
